How it looks	A fine unidirectional grain.	Deep three-dimensional panels and medallions cast from a pattern, then hand-finished.	Soft clouds of dark tone drifting across a warm ground.	Design bitten into the surface, producing fine detail and artwork that cannot be achieved mechanically.

Worth knowing	A scratch across the grain is visible from a distance.	A pattern has to be made before anything is cast, so a one-off medallion carries the cost of its tooling.	Suits panels, cladding and furniture seen as a whole.	Shallow by nature, so it wears where hands and feet pass — a wall or a panel, not a counter or a step.
Looking after it	Wipe along the grain, never across it, with a mild detergent and a soft cloth.	A soft brush for the relief, a damp cloth for the face.	Lacquered, it is simply wiped.	Mild detergent and a soft cloth.
