Design development
A concept, sketch or reference developed into something that can be fabricated, without losing what made it worth doing.
Material consultation
Which metal, which thickness, which substrate, including when we would recommend against the one you had in mind, and why.
Finish sampling
Physical samples in the finishes you are considering, on the metal you are considering, so the decision is made in the hand.
Mock-ups
A panel, a length of ceiling or one piece at full size, reviewed before the batch begins.
Shop drawings
Sections, joints, fixings and tolerances resolved on paper and issued for your approval before anything is cut.
Engineering resolution
How the piece is supported, fixed and allowed to move, worked out with you and the structure.
Prototypes
For repeated items, one complete piece made first and approved as the standard for the rest.
Fabrication
Cutting, forming, welding and hand finishing in one workshop, against the approved drawing and sample.
Quality inspection
The finished piece checked against the drawing and compared with the approved sample before it is packed.
Packing and installation coordination
Packed for the journey it has to make, and installed or handed over to the team on site, checked against the drawing.
We would rather be involved early than blamed late.
The most expensive moment in a metalwork package is the one where a beautiful detail meets a fabrication reality for the first time on site.
Bring us in at design development and that moment happens on a drawing instead — where it costs an afternoon rather than a programme. We will tell you what the section needs to be, where the joint has to fall, how the panel will be fixed and what the finish will do over time.
We are equally comfortable working to a fully detailed tender package or to a single reference photograph. What matters is that whoever holds the design intention stays in control of it.
