How it looks	Soft clouds of dark tone drifting across a warm ground.	A non-directional swirled grain that scatters light. Worth knowing	Suits panels, cladding and furniture seen as a whole.	Hard to carry cleanly around a tight curve, so it suits flat and gently formed panels.	Shallow by nature, so it wears where hands and feet pass — a wall or a panel, not a counter or a step.	A pattern has to be made before anything is cast, so a one-off medallion carries the cost of its tooling.
Looking after it	Lacquered, it is simply wiped.	Wipe in any direction — there is no grain to respect, which is why it hides scuffs better than any other polished surface.	Mild detergent and a soft cloth.	A soft brush for the relief, a damp cloth for the face.
