How it looks	Softer and more open than hairline, with a matt reflection that sits comfortably beside stone and timber. Worth knowing	Small repairs blend better than on hairline but a damaged area is still re-brushed across the whole face.	The pattern repeats at the size of the tool, so a very large field shows the repeat.	A scratch across the grain is visible from a distance.	A pattern has to be made before anything is cast, so a one-off medallion carries the cost of its tooling.
Looking after it	Along the grain, mild detergent, soft cloth.	Dust settles in the recesses; a soft brush clears it.	Wipe along the grain, never across it, with a mild detergent and a soft cloth.	A soft brush for the relief, a damp cloth for the face.
